Dr. Umesh Kumar Upadhyaya was born October 2, 1964 into a pious Brahmin family in Sonbarsa village in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. His father, Dr. Shiva Shankar Upadhyaya, held a professorship in Department of Sanskrit at the University of Bihar, the city of Muzaffarpur. Dr. Umesh attended Missionary Prabhat Tara School where he manifested a genuine interest in modern science. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Botany with Honours and then moved to Russia to get his post-graduate degree in Biotechnology. He is well-known as "vedic astrologer" and "tantric".
