Dr Umesh Kumar Upadhyaya was born on October 2, 1964 into a pious Brahmin family of Sonbarsa village in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. His ancestors have dedicated their lives in educating Sanskrit (Divine language) and in healing people through Vedic knowledge. His father, Dr Shiva Shankar Upadhyaya, held a professorship in department of Sanskrit at the Bihar University located in the city of Muzaffarpur. Dr Umesh attended Prabhat Tara School where he manifested a genuine interest in modern science. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Botany with Honours in India and then moved to Russia to pursue higher studies. After earning his doctorate in Biotechnology, he dedicated himself in research work and visited several countries of Europe including U.K., Sweden, Germany, and other countries to expand his horizons. Feeling dissatisfied despite continuous hard work and after facing several setbacks he finally decided to return to his roots and moved back to the holy city ‘Varanasi’ where his parents were residing. There he started his work on Ayurveda and his mission to cure people started coming to fruition after years of dedication. Through ‘ANJILIKA AYURVEDIC CENTER’ he has successfully cured many patients who could not rely on allopathic medicine anymore for their treatment. He also believes in impact of planetary positions on an individual’s life and thus as an astrologer he has helped people by conducting Vedic rituals (Pooja), as per their birth charts, which are performed by Brahmins of Varanasi who are specialists in reciting Vedic mantras. This Vedic prayer is the motto of the ‘ANJILIKA AYURVEDIC CENTER’:
ॐ सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः। सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः।
सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु। मा कश्चिद् दुःखभाग्भवेत्।
ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः॥
May all be happy.May all be free from illness and suffering.May all see what is auspicious and good.May no one suffer or experience sorrow.Om, peace, peace, peace (in the mind, body, and environment).
This mantra promotes universal harmony, health, and happiness, wishing well for all living beings. The repetition of "Shanti" three times signifies peace at three levels—internal, external, and universal.
